Street Worker is in Heaven!

A couple of months ago, we learned of a street prostitute who was murdered in the park.

This shook the community of the homeless, drug addicts, pimps, and prostitutes in the area. It also shook us.

My teammate, Niki, ministers in this park weekly, and we’ve started going late at night after the strip clubs to minister as well. But Niki had never heard this woman’s name before (Mookie), so we weren’t sure who she was or what had really happened.

Over time, we’ve learned more about the circumstances of her death from other street workers.

Apparently a woman stole money from a man and the man thought it was Mookie.

One night, she climbed into a car for a “job,” and was met from behind by a man who strangled her to death. She was then dumped in the middle of the road.

To top it off, the truth was revealed that she wasn’t even the one who stole the money.

Now there’s a hit out on the other girl.

The women in the park still talk about Mookie’s death months later when Niki goes down there to minister. And the worst part is wondering if this girl ever received Jesus. Did she go to heaven?!

Well, a few days ago, I heard from Niki and she was excited to share an update with me.

She was down at the park and found out who Mookie was.

“She’s Bonnie, Kelsey!! Mookie was Bonnie!”

Bonnie was a girl she led to Christ and spent lots of time discipling in the park.

“She’s in heaven now!!! This is why we do what we do!!”

We celebrated over the phone and were so relieved this sweet street prostitute received Jesus before she died!

And yes, this is why we do what we do. This is why our first priority is always sharing the gospel with the girls on the streets and in the strip clubs.

We don’t know how long anyone has left on this earth, and God wants none to perish without knowing Him!

For many sinners, tax collectors, and prostitutes are going into God’s kingdom realm ahead of you! Matthew‬ ‭21‬:‭31‬ ‭

I’m looking forward to our second October strip club outreach this Friday! I’m leaving tomorrow for St. Louis and per usual, am expectant for salvations and miracles to take place for those in the bondage of the sex industry!
